Rank Concepts
Alpha (1-2) Leaders of the pack, normally both a male and a female which are mates. In complete control of the pack.
Honored One (# of pups by the Alpha(s)) These wolves may not exist in all packs. They are the offspring of the Alpha(s). Some packs only keep these members until they are old enough and/or have learned what they can or need form the pack. They are then chased off to find a mate and begin a new pack, or to become part of another pack. Not all packs do so, some packs keep them around to become the new Alpha(s) by age or wishes (will) of the former Alpha(s).
Beta (1-2) Reports to the Alpha(s) with news. They are the Alpha(s) advisors and are directly under them (or Honored Ones) in rank.
Warrior (3-9 may vary with more or less in military or non-military packs.) Defenders of the pack, they are called upon by the Alpha(s) to drive off and fight anything that the Alpha(s) order. They will kill anything from a bear to a fellow member of the pack, or die trying. They are often famed as heroes and allowed to have a mate and breed.
Healer/Denmother (1) Every Pack has one whether it is a Healer or a Denmother or both. They are the same, just may be labeled differently depending on packs.
Hunter Lead (1-2) These exist in almost all packs, they are the ones who coordinate the hunt and which target will be caught. They are also the ones who choose who the hunters of the pack will be.
Hunters (varies with pack size, at least 2) The number of these pack member vary by pack and Hunter Lead. They are the members who maneuver and take down prey for the whole pack. Some packs have no specific hunter class and the whole pack my hunt or rotate who hunts when prey is needed.
Guardian (1-2) These are the most Elite of fighters, but are often treated poorly by the rest of the pack. Their strength does not yield them a high rank. Guardians are often un-trusted because of guardians within other packs causing trouble. Some Guardians will even try to free their others in different packs causing them to be banished or killed for treason against the Alpha and pack.
Den Guard (2-3) These members of the pack are aids of the Healer/Denmother. They are under the Healers command and will defend her and the pups/den with their lives. Should they turn to cowardice and run away in the time of need, they will be executed on their return or finding.
Delta (varies with pack size and needs) These are the normal ranks of the pack, the normal members. They are average ranked and are born or accepted into the pack. They may serve different needs when they are needed. In many packs, Deltas are often Hunters. They may have mates, but may not breed in most cases.
Gamma (varies by Alpha(s) laws) Gammas are members that have come to the pack from the outside or are original members of the pack that have lost the Alpha and most of the packs trust. In some packs they are often banished or executed later on if they do not prove themselves and gain back trust.
Pups (varies by Alpha(s) laws) Not all packs have these pups for in most packs only Alphas and Warriors are allowed to breed. If they are not permitted to be within the pack they are often thrown out or killed. If a mother is found pregnant without the Alphas permission, they will either be killed or banished.
Omega (1-2) These members are the lowest rank possible. They are looked down on by the other members of the pack and are bullied and pushed around. In some packs, on rare occasion, they may be allowed to have mates if the mate is also of the same rank.
